ddstageOrganizers of Dragons' Den Meaford have announced the contestants who will participate in the third edition of the event on October 26th at Meaford Hall.

According to Barry Altman, Manager of the Meaford & District Chamber of Commerce, 10 applications were received and reviewed by the Dragons' Den selection committee.

The selection committee which is comprised of members of Meaford's business community evaluated the entries, and selected the seven finalists who will appear on the show.

All seven contestants – who all hail from Meaford – will make their pitches to the five Dragons on the stage of Meaford Hall in hopes of taking home a piece of the nearly $25,000 in cash and prizes that will be up for grabs.

The seven contestants are:

Grant & Jamie Murray
Chris Braeker
Rachael Chapman
Christine Backmund
Jennifer Pittet
Paul Bishop
Darryl Hindle

“Yes, all seven finalists are from Meaford this year,” Altman told The Independent, “We're quite pleased about that.”

Altman also said that those who attend the Dragons' Den Meaford production at Meaford Hall will be impressed with the contestant business ideas.

“We are, unfortunately, not able to release any additional information about their business ideas before the show, but we can say that the contestants will be presenting some very interesting ideas and their businesses cover a wide range of services,” said Altman.

New for this year is an “Audience Choice” award that will be awarded to the contestant who receives the most votes from the audience.

Five dollars from every ticket sold will be put into a prize fund to be awarded at the end of the evening, allowing the audience to become more involved in the event.

Tickets are $20 + HST available at the Meaford Hall Box office (519) 538-0463 www.meaford.ca/meaford-hall
