McGinty’s in downtown Meaford hosted a Malaysian dinner on Saturday May 22nd.
A $25.00 ticket to the event allowed patrons to enjoy a five course meal prepared by Din Saidin and his wife Sarah Radcliffe.
McGinty's café opened in 2002 and is a family run operation. On the evening of the dinner the owners Kevin and Lin were busy hosting, serving and washing dishes alongside their daughters Jessica and Claire as well as other great staff.
The establishment is a popular spot to enjoy a wide range of coffee, tea, and other treats, and the café also has a beautiful back deck.
Two appetizers - Veggie Spring Rolls and Chicken Sesame Egg Rolls - were served on the rooftop patio at sunset to kick off the Malaysian dining experience. Guests were invited to enjoy drinks and appetizers on the deck at 7:00 then finish their meals inside on the main level.
McGinty’s has a liquor license and serves a variety of spirits, beer and wine. Malaysian dinner guests also had an option to bring their own wine and pay a corking fee of $5.
After guests had been seated inside on the ground level an Egg Noodle Salad with peanut sauce was served. The soup that followed, Cream Coconut, was a delicious fusion of flavours.
The main course was a sweet and sour chicken with pineapple shrimp topped with roasted coconut on a bed of coconut rice. For dessert, sweet coconut filling crepes, were served with complimentary tea and coffee.
This was the third of five Malaysian dinners at McGinty's. The next two, on June 5th and June 12th, will be followed by optional entertainment for an additional price.

A maximum of 35 guests can be accommodated for the dinner events. Groups are welcome.
