Georgian Shores Atom Locals Start Play-offs With a Win

The Locals have had a rough time this year with a few members battling the flu, and were looking forward to a long anticipated win at this game.

Feeling the Valentine Pressure

VanDykebwFebruary 14. Valentine's Day. Sappy cards, lovey-dovey cards, anonymous cards, silly cards.  Long-stemmed roses, heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, expensive dinners, maybe even diamond rings.
Meh.

I am an avowed hopeless romantic and I for one do not much like Valentine's Day. I adore Christmas, Easter is nice, Mother's and Father's Day present a beautiful opportunity to express appreciation (are you listening, son?) and birthdays are the bomb (bring on the cake!). But a day devoted to love? And not just love, but romantic love?

Elderly Meaford Woman Victim of Phone Scam

cruiser_lights_225Grey County OPP wish to remind the public to be very cautious when dealing with phone solicitors, door to door sale pitches, mail and internet frauds - especially when asked for personal information. Frauds such as the “Grandparent”, “Microsoft”, “Inheritance”, “Prize Pitch” and “Nigerian” scams have been around for a while and continue to victimize individuals in our communities.

Recently, an elderly Meaford woman was the victim of a phone scam. The victim was contacted by an unknown man claiming to be a representative of the Scotia Bank. The man stated he was investigating an employee at the bank for stealing money and asked the woman for her assistance.
