I've offered my name for the position of Councillor because I believe strongly in helping and contributing for the benefit of my community. I am a sales representative of Re/Max Grey Bruce Realty Inc. in Meaford and take very seriously the role of “ambassador” for newcomers to the area while continuing to serve the current residents of the Municipality.
Time after time I speak with people who are moving here BY CHOICE! Let's not take this community and all it has to offer for granted!
As residents, we might sometimes feel uninformed about why and how decisions are made. As a result, we may not feel comfortable accepting council’s decisions at face value. While confidentiality rules are now a part of everyday life, more information about critical issues should be forthcoming from our policy makers.
More openness will ease the minds of taxpayers and allow us to understand the complexities of Municipal governing. I would like to see more openness.
Meaford residents have a wonderful reputation for welcoming newcomers and we are privileged to have the LFCATC MEAFORD (Land Force Central Area Training Centre) as part of our community. This base brings dedicated and proud families into our midst, reminding us of our heritage and responsibilities to neighbours - both across the street and across borders and oceans. Locally, the townships of Sydenham and St. Vincent are those neighbours that help make us whole.
We have a great collection of public facilities - some older, some newer, all of which are integral to a healthy community. Each of these facilities will benefit from increased public use. Let's encourage younger residents to try new things, newcomers to join, and locals to fully enjoy all that makes this town "The Best on the Bay!"
