candidate_shorttGerald Shortt – candidate for Deputy-Mayor in the upcoming municipal election in the Municipality of Meaford.

These are some items from my Election Platform

- Reduce our large property tax increases – a burden on our lower income taxpayers

- Examine each Municipal Department to see how it can be run more efficiently at less cost

- Renovate and improve the present Library in Meaford. Do not build new library – definitely not on the Market Square as the present Council has approved if funding is available

- Continue to have an agreement with North Grey Union Public Library for the residents of the former Sydenham Township

- Encourage some development by keeping Development Charges down and not sending developers away to other municipalities

- Rescind the Georgian Beach Lawsuit and use tax dollars to rebuild the swimming pool and other municipal properties for the benefit of our youth, seniors and all residents

I’m running for Deputy-Mayor in the Municipality of Meaford to work on behalf of all ratepayers

I will not be seeking or accepting any Campaign Donations, but I am seeking your vote.

I was born in the former St. Vincent Township and lived there until I retired from farming in 2004. I now live in urban Meaford. I have served on the Council of the former St. Vincent Township and also on the Council of The Municipality of Meaford.
