The Ministry of Education is conducting operational reviews of all 72 of Ontario’s School Boards. The review of Bluewater District School Board highlights many leading practices in place at the board.

The review focused on four specific areas: Governance and School Board Administration, Human Resource Management and School Staffing/Allocations, Financial Management and School Operations and Facilities Management. Leading practices were identified in all four review areas.

Bluewater District School Board Chair Jennifer Yenssen and Director of Education Mary Anne Alton have returned from a week long trip to Korea.

“We held nine formal meetings with different educational institutions throughout the Korean Peninsula to discuss partnering opportunities and those discussions were very positive,” says Board Chair Jennifer Yenssen.

Ecole St. Vincent Euphrasia Elementary School (SVE) in Meaford held the first meeting of the new Safe School Team on Thursday evening.

The initiative is a result of new legislation passed by the provincial government that came in to effect on February 1.

The first of its kind in Canada, the Keeping our Kids Safe at School Act builds on Ontario's safe schools strategy and is a primary recommendation from the Safe Schools Action team, established by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

The issue of safety of all students in area public schools has been brought to the surface on two fronts.
