Tourism is a dominant industry in our region which is driving growth in all sectors of our regional economy.
A vibrant tourism economy improves the quality of life for our residents and expands our experiential offerings.
In an effort to heighten youth awareness of local careers in the tourism sector in our region, the Four County Labour Market Planning Board, in conjunction with a number of community partners, is hosting a Tourism Career Fair at Georgian Bay Secondary School on November 23rd, 2011.
The Tourism Career Fair will feature four key note speakers from the tourism sector as well as various exhibitors.

Bryan Plumstead – Tourism Manager for Grey County
Linda Simpson – Executive Director of the Georgian Triangle Tourist Association
Aaron Harrison – Snow Business Administrator, Blue Mountain Resort
Reid Kendal and Jeremy Proctor –Summer Company participants
The project organizers anticipate numerous positive outcomes:
Increased youth awareness of local employment prospects in the Tourism Industry
Improved links between workplace and youth from the Town of the Blue Mountains and the Municipality of Meaford
Enhanced awareness of Careers in the Tourism Field
Promotion of the benefits of working locally
The career fair will provide high-profile access to much-needed information which will assist local youth, and students in making wise career choices for the future. Subsequent events are planned for Grade 7 and 8 students in Meaford and Thornbury.
