A Taste of India- In Meaford

indian_taste_testPrakash Iyer and his wife Sangita are a long way from home.

The couple moved to Canada eight months ago from their native India. After spending their first two months in Toronto, they moved to Meaford six months ago and took over the management responsibilities for the Meaford Motel and Restaurant on Sykes Street.

Prakash who also goes by the name Gus, is a textile engineer by trade, and Sangita was an architect in India. The two are now working together to help grow the business at the motel.

The Apology

“Whereas Council believes we are at a moment in the Municipality's history that we may be able to put a difficult and divisive period related to Meaford Hall behind us and move forward more successfully together;

Be it hereby resolved that Council takes this opportunity to sincerely apologize for the manner in which the Municipality treated a number of its citizens who were executives, staff, volunteers, supporters and friends of the Georgian Theatre Festival and Meaford Hall before, during and following the physical renovation of the Hall.

Murdoch Back in Legislature

BillMurdoch2009QUEEN’S PARK – After spending 100 days in exile, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch returned to his seat in the Legislature and delivered his first statement, starting with an apology to the Speaker of the House.
