Re: Reader Supports Georgian Beach Road Appeal

I am writing to you in regard to my brother in law Mr Geoffrey Grist, who’s been married to my sister Pauline for 22 years.

I have obviously known Geoff for a good chunk of his life, and though my family connection might make me slightly biased, I still feel that I am a good enough judge of character to be considered this opportunity to tell my story.

Reader: Why is Meaford Still Entertaining WTE Proposal?

Dear Editor,

I understand how difficult it can be to set an annual budget to operate an entire municipality, and I don’t envy those that have the task of completing it.

However, I must ask this question. Why is Meaford keeping any budget at all for a Waste-to-Energy (WTE) project? It was a great step to take half of the $51,000 away from the project, but why not all? I’m sure there are much more pressing and important issues that could use the remaining $26,000.

Dear Editor,

Referring to the article “Council Approves 2012 Budget” in Tuesday’s TMI, I was taken aback by our illustrious mayor’s statement “It is on the back burner right now because everybody is waiting for the province to come in with the new rates, and we'll see where it goes from there”. “It” refers to the controversial Waste To Energy incineration project.

I don’t know who “everybody” is that the mayor is referencing in his statement. I know I certainly am not one of those “everybody” waiting for the province to come in with new rates. Therefore, his argument is flawed.
