Dear Editor,

Re: Reader Supports Georgian Beach Road Appeal

I am writing to you in regard to my brother in law Mr Geoffrey Grist, who’s been married to my sister Pauline for 22 years.

I have obviously known Geoff for a good chunk of his life, and though my family connection might make me slightly biased, I still feel that I am a good enough judge of character to be considered this opportunity to tell my story.

Geoff is a person of good moral character, who comes from a strong middle class family. His family has always believed in hard work, integrity, and goodwill toward others, and Geoff has retained all those beliefs coming to Canada 25 years ago with $50.00 dollars in his pocket. He knows what it means to do an honest day's work, and also recognizes the value of his family obligations. In all this hard work he has become a very successful business man in Toronto, which took a lot of time and dedication to develop this achievement.

In fact, Geoff is the kind of person who has been a great donator to many charities throughout Ontario, has on more than one occasion helped many people, family and friends. If he was given the chance you would understand. These kinds of endeavours are not shown under this situation in Meaford, we just try to go to a family home on weekends but - Hounded and abused in town, shopping, we can’t even sit in our gardens without this going on. Our kids are constantly being verbally abused by grown adults in this neighbourhood.

In Geoff’s personal life, Geoff has many friends, among whom he is well respected and liked. He never has a bad word to say about anyone, and his kindness and generosity are unparalleled.

By now I hope you've gotten the impression that Geoff would be an excellent choice for your town. He has developed many a successful business and helps many to do the same, just what the town of Meaford could be doing with more tourists and attractions, attained from a very successful person with the best interests of employment, healthcare, schools. As we all know building his waterfront cottage he employed trades from Meaford, Owen Sound.

Sincerely

Catherine Morrison, Toronto
