I would like to add my sincere thanks and appreciation to the people of the community who nominated the MAGG group, Jenean Lush and myself for the Special Merit Award which Jenean accept on our behalf.
This award has a very special significance for us and for this community as without the support of all of you, the people who rallied behind us and supported our efforts we would not have been able to accomplish what we have.
I am sure Jenean very eloquently thanked everyone, however, as I was unable to attend the dinner, I would just like to add my personal thanks to the Chamber of Commerce, to the members of MAGG who walked the streets and talked to people and got signatures on our petition, to those who posted signs drawing awareness to the general public about our information meeting, to Jenean who researched all of the health concerns and passionately presented this to Council, to Linda Gasser and Liz Benneian who traveled to Meaford to support us in our Public Meeting and have given ongoing guidance to us in our endeavour, but most of all thank you to the people of this municipality who attended the Public Meeting and stood behind us.
This is no small feat as many times the support is not as visible as it was that evening. Hats off to all of you.
We did win that battle, but victory is not ours for although we would like this to be finished from what we are being told this incinerator issue is not over by any means.
