Dear Editor Stephen Vance,
Your editorial on the municipal position regarding North Georgian Beach reflects my understanding. I have taken the position that maybe everyone is right in believing what they do and it would be better to avoid a court settlement.
There are different views on Georgian Beach and everyone needs to compromise and reach a consensus settlement. I do not believe anyone is trying to steal land and I further believe everyone who resides on the Beach are genuinely good people.
Let’s drop the rhetoric of good vs evil. The municipality is in a no-win position.
I and Councillor Gerald Shortt have repeatedly requested the Council to stop its legal actions. I always encourage a residents’ solution to the Georgian Beach disagreement.
We need mediation not an court imposed decision which in the end will then be appealed. And more of our valuable tax dollars will be spent on suing our citizens and neighbours.
I, for one, do not want to continue this drama.
Thank-you for your editorial and you have put it very well,
Jim McPherson, Councillor
