From England to Meaford

E-mail Print PDF

Dear Editor,

I am researching my family history.  I have traced my Great Great Grandfather's sister to Meaford.  She was Matilda Inglis who was married to John Murray a shoemaker in Trowbridge Street, Meaford.  They went to Canada in 1868.  They had four surviving children - Mary, James, Catherine Beatrice and Roy Hugh.  John died in 1904 and Matilda died in 1926.  I'm fairly sure that Roy may have died about the time of WW1.

Through the internet I have found that her grandaughter Laura Lavinia Murray (1898-1986) - daughter of James Murray and Ester Free - was married to Howard Dean Albert Knight (1885-1964).  I would be very interested if anyone in Meaford recognises these names or is descended from the family.

Many Thanks,

Elaine Johnston, Cornwall England
