Editor,

"We live in a democracy, but when the rights of the majority are trampled to satisfy someone who doesn’t agree with something the majority has no issue with, it makes me wonder how solid our democracy really is."

Larry,

Your quote above, in reference to prayer at government meetings is interesting. I rarely agree with your missives, but this one has rare insight and you should apply it to your work  in parliament as well.

Reader Offers Thoughts About Results of Robo-call Investigation

E-mail Print PDF

Editor,

In July there were letters accusing the Conservatives of making a mockery of democracy. Several reasons were given for this accusation.

1. Mr. Harper prorogued parliament twice. (I pointed out in a letter that between them Liberal P.M.s Mr. Chretien and Mr. Trudeau prorogued parliament fourteen times - and people actually voted against those facts - so I guess facts don’t count for some people.)

2. The Conservatives used many unfair and shameful tactics to influence that election.

- Illegal election spending
- illegal election fund raising
- voter fraud
- focused robo-calling to send non- conservatives to the wrong polling booths.

Reader Supports Miller Position on Prayer

E-mail Print PDF

Editor,

I agree whole-heartedly with Mr. Miller. We have listened long enough to those who say it offends them and change our laws, traditions that built this country where all are allowed to be free, and the fibre of the life that others have come here to enjoy from fanatic regimes.

The sad part is that Scripture has predicted this turning away and we as a Christian nation just quietly succumb to the demands of the few.
