Meaford Moments: The Public Library

lib_oilAs the leaves hesitantly change colours to match the palette of fall, I find myself writing my final moment of this summer. It is without doubt that I left my favourite moment for last.

Francis Bacon once said that “Knowledge is Power” and from that I find it appropriate to assume that a place that provides such knowledge to the public is extremely powerful and absolutely essential to our town.

Local Playwright Fest Looking For Actors

logo_100mileplaywrightThe Grey-Bruce Arts Collective is holding auditions for actors to participate in The 100 Mile Playwright Festival. They are looking for actors with a strong commitment to new Canadian plays.

Those interested will need to be available Tuesday September 28 to Sunday October 3 for rehearsals and performances.

Haines Exhibit Will Be Largest Ever

HainesPortraitThe exhibition of the work of Group of Seven contemporary Fred Haines which opens in Meaford on Friday, September 10th will be the largest of its kind ever held.  The exhibition will require three sites – Meaford Hall, Meaford Museum and Georgian Bay Secondary School – to display the over 90 Haines works that have been gathered from public and private owners and institutions across the province.

Calling All Thespians

window_unveiling_santaKids in the Meaford Hall is pleased to announce that a strong team of live theatre enthusiasts has been assembled, to produce a great "Twas the night before Christmas" show .

They are now ready to hold the all important auditions to fill some 15 roles for the main cast, as well as some additional spots for understudies.
