
Meaford resident Emma Wright has placed second in the 6-9 age group at the 8th annual Wheatley Idol.
The competition was held on July 31 at Two Creeks Conservation Area in conjunction with the Annual Wheatley Fish Festival, and attracted competitors from across southern Ontario.
“It was another record setting year for registration, filling up in just one week! Contestants came from all around Southwestern Ontario including Belle River, Chatham, Essex, Harrow, Kingsville, Leamington, London, Wheatley, Windsor, Meaford, and Petrolia. It’s wonderful to see the excited young talent and their families come out to Wheatley Idol!” said Darla Janzen who is the Organizer and Chair of the Wheatley Idol event.
The competition attracted an audience of some 350 people who along with Celebrity Judges - Cordell Green, 92.7 MAX FM Morning Radio Host; Nicole Barron, Recording Artist, Singer/Songwriter; and Jennifer Morin, 2010 Wheatley Idol Overall Winner witnessed a wide range of talented local performers.
Emma locked up second place in her age group with her performance of Avril Lavigne's song “Keep Holding On.”
