Last Friday those that visited the Meaford Farmers' Market were treated to the guitar driven, southern influenced sounds of recording artist and new Meaford resident Will Matthews, and the entertainment continues this Friday as market patrons will be able to enjoy the soothing voices of up and coming Owen Sound duo Beckon.
Beth Hamilton and her song-smith partner Connie Sinclair Rossiter have had a busy summer writing and performing music in the Grey-Bruce area and beyond including a recent performance at Owen Sound's 'OTHERfolk' Festival.
Sinclair-Rossitter is a fourth generation resident of the area, Hamilton is a recent transplant, and together they are making music that resonates with images of tranquil living away from the big city, and an earthiness that can only be found in a rural community.
The Meaford Farmers' Market runs from 3 to 7 pm at the Rotary Harbour Pavilion and Beckon is scheduled to perform beginning at 5 pm.
This is prime time for local produce with everything from cucumbers and squash to fresh corn on the cob available at the market. In addition to the fabulous local fruits, vegetables and meat products and another serving of local music, there will again be local craftspeople at the market this week.
Take some time out on what is forecast to be a beautiful Friday afternoon and pay a visit to the Meaford Farmers' Market and support your local farmers, crafters- and musicians.
