On Sunday April 28, the Meaford Figure Skating Club held its annual awards banquet. There was a large turnout of skaters, parents, grandparents, siblings and coaches who enjoyed an afternoon of delicious desserts and presentations despite inconvenient power interruptions to celebrate a successful skating season.

There were thirteen awards presented over the course of the afternoon to recognize the skaters’ outstanding achievements this year.

The Knights of Meaford have their first player – 17 year old Georgian Bay Secondary School student Jordan Rear.

While Rear has committed to play for the new GMHL team, General Manager Dallyn Telford told The Independent that the team can't officially sign him just yet.

“We can't actually "sign" him until we get our player cards on May 12,” explained Telford, “Jordan played midget last year for Georgian Shores.”
