After taking a break for December 25 and 26, the Olympic Torch is back on the road today in the London Ontario area.
The Torch Run is slowly making its way across the country and after an overnight stop in Owen Sound on Monday, it will arrive in Meaford early in the morning on Tuesday December 29.
Meaford is a Route Community as the Olympic Flame travels more than 45,000 kilometres across Canada on it's journey to Vancouver for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
The national relay route will link together over 1,000 communities and places of interest. Day 61 will be Meaford's chance to join in the celebration.
If you plan to witness the torch as it makes its historical pass through Meaford, you will need to get up early and head for Sykes Street.
The torch will arrive in Meaford at 7:45 am at OPP Station (Sykes St. N) and will travel along Sykes Street with a brief stop at Meaford Hall and continuing to the Valu-mart mall by 8:15 before heading out of the municipality and toward The Town of the Blue Mountains.
Following the passing of the Torch Relay through Meaford, the community is invited to attend a breakfast at the Meaford Arena. The breakfast will be hosted by the community churches and the Municipality of Meaford.
