The 450 member Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen's Association plans to re-ignite enthusiasm for Target, Field and 3D Archery in South Bruce.
The respected conservation club's new archery program is for adults and juniors. Two highly qualified BPSA members, Karen Van Nest and Phil Henderson, will lead this new venture.
Henderson has been shooting archery since age 5. He has officiated and co-ordinated national, provincial and club level archery tournaments in all three disciplines. He is fully certified as an instructor, coach, and junior Olympic archery co-ordinator.
Karen Van Nest has competed nationally and internationally, joining the Canadian National Paralympic Archery Team in 2008. She placed 10th in women's open class at the 2009 ParaWorld Archery Championships in the Czech Republic. She has her sights on the 2012 Paralympic Games in England. Karen has coached both adults and juniors and will serve as volunteer archery co-ordinator for the Wiarton based BPSA.
