After reading an interview with author Steven Hainsworth posted on the Meaford Independent site Friday August 5, 2011, the volunteer board of the Woodford Community Centre, contacted the author and after a series of e mails, were able to engage him for an author talk at the Woodford
Community Centre on Saturday May 12 at 7PM.
In 2010, Steven Hainsworth set off to hike the entire Bruce Trail from end to end. (Niagara Falls to Tobermory) He accomplished this 885KM journey in 30 days, which is no small feat. Hainsworth recorded his adventures in photos and through the written word, publishing a book titled "Adventures With Bruce."
One of Hainsworth's favourite parts of the trail was the 170 kilometre stretch that comprises the Sydenham portion of the Bruce trail. In fact, he has dedicated 20 pages in his book to the Sydenham trail and tells the reader that he loved the rugged, unspoiled beauty of the trail and was very impressed by the friendliness and community spirit he experienced in the people he met who live along this portion of the trail.
Why not make a day of it? Pick up a map at the Woodford Community Centre for a self guided hike of a part of the Sydenham trail - you can choose to hike north of Hwy#26 or south of Hwy#26. Both trails heads are within strolling distance of the community centre.
Then return to the centre for a "back by popular demand" Rib Dinner (Vegetarian fare available upon request) served from 5PM-7PM. Then move upstairs in the centre and settle in for an hour of entertainment with our author from 7PM-8PM
