walk_bike2_workPlanning and building for active modes of transportation, such as walking and cycling, can be a challenge for municipalities that have limited money and resources to support these projects.

However, active transportation provides economic, social and health benefits that greatly outweigh the financial costs.

Solutions for Active Transportation is an educational forum to highlight best practices for creating active transportation in communities, and provide case examples from communities who have experienced some successes.

Hosted by the Grey Bruce Health Unit, the County of Grey and the County of Bruce, Solutions for Active Transportation forum takes place February 17 at the Grey Bruce Health Unit, 101 17th Street East, Owen Sound.

There will be a closed session for engineers, public works and roads professionals in the morning, followed by a free public session from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

For further information or to register for the public session, call Jennifer Croft at 519-376-9420 or visit our website at http://www.healthycommunitiesconference.com.
