The Taoist Tai Chi Society of Canada is a registered charitable organization dedicated to helping people improve their health.
The Collingwood Branch of the Society offers both daytime and evening classes in Taoist Tai Chi* at six locations around Georgian Bay: Owen Sound, Meaford, Thornbury, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and Creemore. All classes are conducted by accredited, volunteer instructors.
A four-month beginner’s session introduces students to the slow movements of this exercise program. Under the direction of an instructor and one or more helpers, students learn to follow the full set of movements of the Taoist Tai Chi* form.
After this introduction, students have the knowledge and confidence to join one or more of our many classes for continuing students. The instructors for continuing students introduce a more dynamic style of movement that incorporates long stretching and increased weight bearing. At this point, the instruction becomes more directed to the individual student and his or her needs.
With regular practice, students begin to enjoy improved health, most notably: improved circulation, balance and posture; increased strength and flexibility; and reduced stress.
Over time, the Taoist Tai Chi* internal art of health reaches deep inside the body to benefit the entire physiology, including the tendons, joints, spine, connective tissue and internal organs. Practiced without music and with quiet instruction it allows us to restore the calmness and peace of mind often lost through the fast pace of modern life.
Why not come and visit a class and see for yourself why so many people are coming to appreciate this health restoring form of exercise. For details about Meaford & Thornbury classes, call 519-538-0288 OR for more information and a list of class times visit: www.taoist.org/collingwood.
