You might not need a reason to love Fridays, but the Meaford Farmers' Market is hoping that the kick-off of their fifth season on Friday June 3 will give Meaford residents one more reason to love the start of weekends.
Local food producers and craft vendors will return to the Rotary Harbour Pavilion on Friday afternoons, and this season is promising to be more exciting than ever.
With plenty of new vendors including Eggcitement Bistro who will be serving up crepes and wraps to enjoy while visiting the market, and Unique Coffee who will feature specialty coffee as well as hot chocolate and tea, and new craft vendors will offer locally made jewellery as well as tie-dye and knitted goods there is something new to interest everyone this season.
Building on the popularity of live music at the market, this season will feature even more local sounds filling the air beginning with “Bored of Education” who will perform on opening day under The Meaford Independent Music Tent.
Other confirmed performers this season will be James Skarnikat, Michael Crowley, and Will Matthews who recorded the Scarecrow theme song last summer.
As in previous years there will be a children's activity table, but this year there is even more for the little ones as the farmers' market has teamed up with the Meaford Public Library who will have a tent on the lawn outside of the pavilion which will feature all sorts of fun events.
Of course the farmers' market just wouldn't be a farmers' market if not for the food producers. The Meaford Farmers' Market is a fine showcase of our local agricultural heritage and those that visit the market will be able to find fresh locally grown vegetables and meat products.
Because all of the produce sold at the Meaford Farmers' Market is grown locally you won't find corn at the market in June, and you won't find asparagus in August.
