After a slow start to the growing season, the Meaford Farmers' Market is now in full swing, and this coming Friday will be holding a silent auction at the harbour.
With the annual Rotary Fish Fry taking place on that same date, market vendors will not be under the Rotary Harbour Pavilion as usual, but will be set up under tents in the parking lot beside the pavilion.
The market has many great additions this season. With plenty of new vendors, live local music, snakes and reptiles at the Library tent, a kite flying day, and an upcoming jump rope day, the market has become not just a great place to shop for local food products, but also a place to socialize and be entertained.
The auction is a fundraising event for the market that will allow market organizers to continue offering new and exciting experiences on Friday afternoons at the harbour, and they have been fortunate to have plenty of fantastic items donated by local residents and businesses for market patrons to bid on.
Items included in the auction thus far include a bi-plane ride out of the Billy Bishop airport, paintings and prints from local artists, toys and games, home decor items, and gift certificates from local businesses. Market organizers are still seeking additional items for the auction, so if you or your business have something to contribute, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Some of the items available in the auction are currently on display in the window of the Chamber of Commerce building on Trowbridge Street.
On Friday July 29th, head down to the harbour between 3 and 7 pm for some fresh local food and to bid on something special in the silent auction, and help the Meaford Farmers' Market continue to grow.
