On October 2nd and 3rd , Port Elgin hosts Pumpkinfest which features a pumpkin contest, an outdoor car show, and over 100 craft & marketplace vendors.
A rural Meaford farmer plans to enter his largest prize pumpkin in the contest.
As of August 31, 2010 Terry’s largest pumpkin weighed in at about 750 pounds and another weighed 600 pounds. He has named them Lord and Lady Maximus.
Last year’s winning pumpkin weighed 1678 pounds.
During the last week, the pumpkins put on about 100 pounds each. If this growth rate continues the larger one will weigh about 1,100 pounds on Oct 2.
As of August 24, 2010 Terry’s two Giant Pumpkins weighed in at 500 and 650 pounds. On August 16th, they weighed about 460 and 500 pounds. On August 4th , they weighed about 200 pounds.
