The crowds cheered when Meaford farmer, Terry Chappelle's pumpkin weighed in at 1055 pounds at Pumpkinfest in Port Elgin on October 2, 2010.
There were larger pumpkins that day- the winning entry was a 1,618 pound mammoth from Quebec - but Chappelle was pleased that this one grew to over 1,000 pounds.
Transporting a huge pumpkin is no easy task. Chappelle used his tractor to load the pumpkin onto a trailer that he then drove from his Meaford farm to Port Elgin.

The pumpkin managed to put on 855 lbs in two months or over 14 lbs a day. Here is its growing history:

On September 15th, the giant pumpkin weighed about 950 pounds.

On September 8th, it weighed about 850 pounds

On August 31st, 750 pounds.

On August 24th, 650 pounds.

On August 16th, 500 pounds.
