Local Author Takes Reader Back in Time

GetarixFrontCover1Meaford-based writer Michael W. Allen has released his first novel, and those with a love for historical fiction will be pleased with this first effort.

Getarix - Out of Obscurity” shares the story of Getarix, a “young Celtic lad who hates the gods.”

Getarix escapes a sacrifice ritual at the hands of his tribe and flees, eventually finding himself in Roman territory where he faces a difficult decision - sell himself as a rural slave, or join the Roman army and establish a new life in the Roman Empire.

Area Teens Getting Ready For All Night Movies

film wheels Jean-LucST-HilaireThere is only one organization in Bruce and Grey brave enough to invite 400 teens to spend from midnight until 7:30 am watching movies and eating bottomless pop and popcorn - to raise funds for children and youth projects - that organization is the United Way of Bruce Grey.

On Friday April 26th, at the Galaxy Cinemas Owen Sound the doors open at midnight, and the teens will be able to watch movies all night long.

School Board to Hold Public Budget Meetings

classroom3The Bluewater District School Board will be holding two Public Budget Meetings to assist trustees and senior staff as they work to reach a balanced budget by June.

The first meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 13, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Alexandra Community School in Owen Sound.
