Come To Our Table – The South Georgian Bay Community Cookbook celebrates the unique food culture of Southern Georgian Bay with recipes, art, stories, and profiles featuring the very best of local ingredients.
Building on that spirit of collaboration and community, 10% of the sale of each book goes into a fund that helps grow local initiatives and programming, specifically with youth and local food in mind.
To date over $8,000 has been collected, and the money will support multiple community gardens throughout the area in addition to some new and exciting food and youth-centric programs currently in development.
The stunning hardcover book features easy-to-use recipes sourced directly from local chefs, farmers, producers, and food professionals. In addition to recipes, the book includes beautiful images of the recipes and of our region, a collection of farmer, grower, and producer profiles, art and literary pieces, each of which tell a unique story of the region.
“It is incredible to see how visitors to the area and locals alike have really embraced the book,” says photographer Heather Goldsworthy. “Folks are really excited about and proud of the food community we have up here and are turning to the book again and again for the recipes, stories, and to explore the area. We often hear from people that they bought a book for themselves and then go back for more to give as gifts and love knowing that with each book they’re not only celebrating the people in the book but giving back to their community. That’s exactly what we hoped for the we started this project.”
The books is available at over 25 locations throughout the area.
