Nominations Being Accepted For Community Awards

Chambersign225The Meaford Chamber of Commerce has announced that nominations are now being accepted for their annual Community Awards. Nominations are now also open for the Rotary Citizen of the Year.

The 14th Annual Meaford & District Chamber of Commerce Community Awards Dinner & Presentation is set for Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Meaford & St. Vincent Community Centre.

“The event is a celebration of the successes of our community members and local businesses during the past year. A full slate of awards in eight categories will highlight the evening, including the Presentation of the Rotary Club of Meaford Citizen of the Year Award,” said the Chamber in a press release issued Thursday.

Over the years many people have been recognized for their significant contribution to our community.

Last year’s award recipients were:

  • Agribusiness Award – Twin Creeks Organic Farm
  • Customer Service Award – The Kitchen
  • Tourism Award – Millhollow Bed & Breakfast
  • Business Owner of the Year – Bill’s Valu-mart
  • Most Improved Business – Knights Home Building Centre
  • Special Merit Award – The Unique Boutique
  • Peter Francis Memorial Award – Lorene Taylor
  • Rotary Club of Meaford Citizen of the Year – Geoff Solomon

Award nomination forms are now available at the Meaford & District Chamber of Commerce, Municipality of Meaford Office, Meaford Post Office, Meaford Public Library and Meaford Hall.

You can also nominate a business or individual online at www.mdcc.ca.

The deadline for submissions for both the Chamber Community Awards and the Rotary Citizen of the Year Award is Monday, March 12, 2012.

Tickets for the evening are now available. Reservations can be made by calling the Chamber office at 519-538-1640.
