Volunteers will be out in force across Grey-Bruce again this spring, on behalf of the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce.
Annual Alzheimer Society Tag Days are being held in a number of local communities during May and June, starting in Owen Sound this weekend, May 24, 25 and 26.
Tag Days will also be held in other communities in Grey-Bruce during the rest of May and June.
“Tag Days are important opportunities for us to provide information about Alzheimer’s disease and about the services we provide,” said Deborah Barker, Executive Director of the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce.
Volunteers will be offering information and packets of Forget-Me-Not seeds, the symbol of the Alzheimer Society, Barker said. As the same time they will be accepting donations to further the work of the society.
“We depend greatly on the generous support of the people of Grey-Bruce to allow us to continue providing education, information, support and counselling services to persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, and to their families and caregivers,” Barker said. “Without the support of our volunteers and financial contributions from the community we would not be able to continue operating.”
“Virtually everyone is touched by Alzheimer’s disease in some way, either personally, or through a relative, a friend or a co-worker,” Barker said. The need is growing faster than our financial resources, as more and more people turn to our chapter for support and information
