The Meaford Farmers' Market's planned silent auction has been moved from this Friday August 10 until next Friday due to inclement weather.
“The Meaford Farmers’ Market is thrilled to have the much needed rain, but to keep our wonderful auction items in pristine condition we will postpone the silent auction to next Friday,” explained Jane Elzby, Meaford Farmers’ Market President.
The farmers' market will still be held rain or shine on Friday August 10, however the second annual silent auction fundraiser will now be held on Friday August 17 from 3 to 7 pm at the Rotary Harbour Pavilion.
Another event that was to have taken place at the harbour has also been postponed.
The long-running and popular Lions Club Fish Fry was to have been held on Saturday August 11 at the pavilion. That event will now take place on Saturday August 25 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm.
The Independent was advised by the Chamber of Commerce on Thursday that the reason for the postponement is a lack of available fish.
