A public meeting is planned in Woodford on March 3rd to address the issue of wind turbines.
Wind Concerns Meaford says in a recently distributed information flyer that they support responsible, environmentally sound solutions to energy demands and environmental challenges.
“Unfortunately the Green Energy Act strips away individual and municipal rights in order to locate industrial wind farms on an accelerated schedule, without adequate assessment criteria and planning oversight,” says the group.
The purpose of the meeting is to raise awareness about wind turbines and the impact that they can have on a community.
Guest speakers have been arranged including Jeremy Gawen- Wind Committee Chair, Georgian Bay Association, and Carmen Krogh- Past Editor of Compendium of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The speakers will present information on the economic, health, environmental and property value impact of wind energy development.
The meeting will take place at the Woodford Community Centre on Wednesday March 3 at 7:30 pm. The doors will open an hour earlier at 6:30 to allow those interested to browse through information materials prior to the meeting.
