mfd_dq225On Thursday, August 12 everyone in Meaford will have an opportunity to be indulging in delicious Blizzards to raise funds for kids in need.

That’s the day Dairy Queen will host the 8th-Annual Canadian “DQ Miracle Treat Day” to benefit Children’s Miracle Network.

During Miracle Treat Day, the Dairy Queen at 264 Sykes Street N., will donate proceeds from every Blizzard sold to Children`s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre, a member hospital of Children’s Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for Canadian children’s hospitals.

“The Meaford Dairy Queen has been a supporter of Children’s Miracle Network since 2003. Miracle Treat Day has become an event that the entire community looks forward to,” said Shirley Keaveney, owner of the Meford Dairy Queen franchise, “It is our pleasure to partner with Children’s Miracle Network. We encourage everyone to come out on August 12 and help us raise funds for the kids in need.”

Last year on Miracle Treat Day, participating Dairy Queens throughout Canada raised $2.1 million, with all proceeds going to Children’s Miracle Network hospitals in respective local communities.

The Children’s Miracle Network is an international non-profit organization that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals, 14 of which are in Canada. Compassionate organizations, media partners and countless individuals unite with Children’s Miracle Network hospitals to help sick and injured kids in local communities. Donations to Children’s Miracle Network create miracles by funding medical care, research and education that saves and improves the lives of more than 2.6 million Canadian children each year.

Dairy Queen will serve up a variety of Blizzard Flavour Treats during Miracle Treat Day, including Oreo, the featured Blizzard of the Month for August. The Oreo debuted in 1985, the Blizzard’s inaugural year, and to this day remains the most popular flavor.

A new Mini size of the famous Blizzard is available now in stores nationwide. The Mini Blizzard is about half the size of a small 12 oz. and is available for all Blizzard flavors.
