Addressing Anxiety in Children

child anxietyAnxiety is now recognized as the most common emotional disorder in many countries, based on a recent study by the World Health Organization.

Anxiety in children diminishes their intellectual, emotional and social development as well as their physical health. Children today deal with an increasing number of stressful issues, including violence in society and the media. The result is a “shell-shocked” generation of children, many of whom suffer from significant anxiety.

Toxic Scare at Local Gas Bar

Meaford's fire department responded to a potential propane leak at Alex's Gas Bar, located on Sykes Street South, on Tuesday morning (May 7) though they quickly realized that they weren't dealing with a propane leak at all.

The Toys are Coming, And You Can Help

museum toysThe Meaford Museum will be hosting a Royal Ontario Museum travelling exhibition entitled "Canada at Play: 100 Years of Games, Toys and Sports" at Meaford Hall from June 6 to July 28.

The exhibition takes a look at Canada’s favourite games and toys over the past 130 years, and the exhibit shows that in spite of vast technoligical advancements in recent decades, the joy of playing with a well made toy can trump the wide range of electronic gadgets available to today's children.
