Partners Energy Group announced today that as a result of the December 16, 2011 Ontario Power Authorities management teleconference, the planned public information session currently scheduled to take place January 10, 2012 will be postponed until the OPA completes the FIT program review.
The information session was to provide an insight in the methodology that PEG has proposed for the project and to help the community better understand the bio-thermo process that will co-generate electricity.
“Without proper direction as to the approval process imposed by the Power Authority, any further discussion at this point would only fuel speculation and misguidance. Our proposal to Meaford sets forth a bold initiative for a community open to new ideas for energy while addressing unemployment and a growing waste diversion issue,” said Robert Forte, Senior Project Manager with Partners Energy.
Frank Miele, the CAO for the Municipality of Meaford, confirms and agrees that the accuracy of the approval process is vital to provide the community with proper diligence in considering such a project and further speculation will only fuel negativity that could otherwise be detrimental to the overall process.
The project must meet with all regulatory requirements including emissions, natural resources and tourism just to mention a few.
The rules that are currently under review will dictate the exact process for approval that both proponents and opponents to follow as a requirement of the approval process.
An Information Session will be scheduled in the near future.
