There will be a special meeting of council on Wednesday February 10 beginning at 5:00 pm to discuss the second draft of the 2010 budget.
The meeting will be held in the Council Chamber on the 7th Line.
The first session dealing with the 2010 budget was held on December 16. That meeting was far ahead of the budget meeting schedule of the previous year when the first meeting wasn't held until late February.
The meeting is open to the public, and will see Meaford CAO Frank Miele and Treasurer David Kennedy present a revised budget that should be tailored to fall within the five year plan established in 2009. Under that plan the maximum blended property tax increase would be five percent.
At the December 16 budget meeting most members of council reserved comments and questions about specifics contained within the budget with the understanding that what was put before them at that meeting was a starting point, and was mostly for informational purposes.
Expect to see much more commentary and debate on the part of councillors at the February 10th meeting.
