Chatsworth, ON.– Grey County OPP charged several drivers with drinking and driving related offences during the past week.
On Friday, November 6th, at about 9 pm officers checked a driver while conducting RIDE checks at the intersection of Grey Roads 18 and 11 in Meaford. The driver was arrested after failing the roadside screening test and subsequent breath tests confirmed blood alcohol levels in excess of the legal limit. A 39 year old Meaford mand is charged with the Criminal Code offence of Operate a Motor Vehicle over 80 and the Liquor License Act offence of Operating a Motor Vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice-Owen Sound on December 17, 2009.
Just after 4 am on Saturday morning (07-Nov-09) an officer happened upon a single vehicle rollover on Grey Road 18 in Georgian Bluffs Township. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and taken to the Chatsworth Detachment where breath tests confirmed levels in excess of the legal limit. An 18 year old West Grey man is charged with the Criminal Code offences of Impaired Operation and Operate over 80. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice-Owen Sound on December 17, 2009.
On Saturday, November 7th, at midnight officers were doing RIDE checks on Somers Street at Grey Road 17B in Georgian Bluffs when an approaching car seemed to leave the roadway and come to rest in the grass ditch before the driver exited and began to walk away. An officer approached the driver and after a brief discussion arrested him for impaired operation. He was taken to Owen Sound Police Services where breath tests confirmed levels in excess of the legal limit. A 28 year old Owen Sound man is charged with the Criminal Code offences of Impaired Operation and Operate over 80 as well as a number of Highway Traffic Act offences. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice-Owen Sound on December 17, 2009.
