The moustache of Larry Miller, M.P. was shaved off yesterday by Glenn Thibeault, M.P for Sudbury, to officially kick-off Movember on Parliament Hill.
Movember participants are challenged to change their appearance and the face of men's health by growing a moustache.
The moustache acts as their ribbon, the means by which men can raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer.
“I am pleased to participate in the event again this year,” says Miller. “Movember is a great way to get the word out about men’s health and raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.”
Since 2003, the Movember moustache has grown year after year, expanding to Canada, the US, UK, New Zealand, Ireland, Spain, South Africa, the Netherlands and Finland. In 2009, the Canadian Movember campaign was the second largest in the world, raising a total of $7.8 million for Prostate Cancer Canada.
