Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound is encouraging community-based projects to apply for funding under the New Horizons for Seniors Program for the 2012-13 funding year.
The federal funding under the New Horizons for Seniors Program will be provided to community-based projects run by organizations that work to promote the well-being of Canada’s seniors.
“It is very important that we provide meaningful programs and activities that include seniors,” said Miller. “This funding will ensure that the quality of life is improved for senior citizens and their communities and I encourage all organizations to apply for this funding.”
Organizations can receive up to $25,000 per year for projects that address one or more of the programs five objectives. These objectives include the following: volunteering, mentoring, expanding awareness of elder abuse, social participation and capital assistance.
