Exhibition of Wearable Art to Launch in Owen Sound

wearable art 225Local cake artist Karin van der Heyden co-owner of the popular MarketSide Cafe, was originally trained as a fabric artist. She returns to her design roots with Transformations: An Exhibition of Wearable Art, a unique line of clothing which will be launched at 7:00pm this Friday (May 10) at MarketSide in downtown Owen Sound. 

van der Heyden turns "experienced" fabrics into up-cycled vests which are one-of-a-kind one-size-fits-all timeless visual statements which can be dressed up or down.

Skyline International Development Inc., a Canadian owner, operator and developer of resorts and destination communities yesterday announced the closing of the deal.

High School Students to Have Opportunity to Learn About Making Films

film wheels Jean-LucST-HilaireThe Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library will be hosting a five week long film-making course for students in grades 9-12 led by instructor Patrick Barfoot.

Starting March 20 and running until April 18, “No Excuse Film-making” will take place in the Library Auditorium from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Barfoot will take participants through the entire process of a creating a film, from script-writing to screening, with a focus on using accessible technology such as smart phones and digital cameras.
