Murdoch Joins Rally to Fight Jail Closures

BillMurdoch2009Local MPP Bill Murdoch is using the last week of his legislative duties at Queen’s Park to stop the jail closures in Owen Sound and Walkerton and calling on the government to order a public review.

During question period today, Murdoch accused the minister of correctional services, Jim Bradley, of hiding the costing report that purported savings from jail closures.

Murdoch Supports Putting Prisoners to Work

murdoch_speakingLocal MPP Bill Murdoch is lauding Wednesday’s PC policy announcement that would see convicted criminals work 40-hour weeks, pulling weeds, painting over graffiti and picking up trash at provincial prisons.

Manual labour is right now voluntary for inmates. However, if elected this October, the Ontario PCs would make inmates work and earn rewards, such as television time, coffee and gym time.
