This phrase appeared on posters across Canada at Idle No More rallies - We Are All Treaty People - and yet while many can agree with this concept it seems that for Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound MP Larry Miller and MPP Bill Walker, it is impossible to uphold Canada’s duty to treaty rights, or First Nations’ interests in general, when it conflicts with their own personal interests - that of non-Indigenous Canadians.
For weeks we have witnessed the debate surrounding the agreement between Saugeen Ojibway Nation and the Minister of Natural Resources, the Honourable David Oriazetti. This past weekend members of the most vocal group opposing the agreement gathered to make their voices heard.
