Bluewater District School Board Holds First Ever Adult Education Graduation

Staff

It was the first evening of its kind for those completing Bluewater District School Board’s Adult Education program. Mature students, families, staff, and dignitaries came together for a truly memorable Adult Education graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Bluewater District School Board Education Centre in Chesley.

A total of 53 students were honoured as part of the first graduating class of 2019. In addition to the awarding of diplomas, the evening featured greetings from First Nation and Bluewater District School Board dignitaries and staff, an inspiring keynote presentation, and heartfelt speeches from a few of the graduates. As a special highlight, graduating student Andrea Ritchie was presented with the Dual Credit Award.

We are incredibly proud of our graduates, and wish them every success as they carry forward their newly acquired knowledge and skills in their chosen pathways,” says Bluewater District School Board Director of Education Alana Murray. “Our Adult Education motto is ‘you are closer than you think,’ which really demonstrates how it is never too late to further your learning and pursue that career goal you had in mind.”

Bluewater District School Board’s Adult Education program offers hybrid night courses for English and Mathematics at four locations across the district. Students also have the opportunity to earn co-operative education credits towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma while on the job through the Credits@Work program. This year, a partnership with Georgian College allowed students to take a dual credit course where they could receive a secondary school and college credit at the same time.
