Council Approves Sidewalk Patio Pilot Project

outdoor dining Florin Garoi225Downtown Meaford could soon feature sidewalk patios after council approved a pilot project at the June 8 meeting.

The Municipality has received requests from various restaurants to permit outdoor licensed patios on municipally-owned properties. One request (Captain’s Corner Fish and Chips) is proposed on a paved boulevard between the sidewalk and the building. Another two (Leeky Canoe and George's on Main) are proposing the patios on the sidewalk with the temporary construction of walkways into parking areas,” Director of Planning and Building Rob Armstrong told council. “The temporary use of parking spaces for walkways to facilitate patios has become common in many other downtowns such as Barrie, Collingwood, and Fort Erie.”

Building Community One Scarecrow at a Time

Bridge Tagged With Graffiti

On Saturday, June 6, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate a mischief complaint after a unknown male youth was observed tagging a bridge with graffiti located on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club (OFSC) trail off of Hwy. 6 & 10, near Circle Drive, in the Municipality of Meaford, shortly before police were called.

Meaford Motorcycle Rider Charged With Racing

On Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at approximately 1:00 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped the driver of a 1993 Yamaha motorcycle for speeding 176 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone southbound on Hwy. 10 in the Township of Chatsworth.
